Shaolin Powin'

Why hello, hello every body, I've got a TON of stuff for you all today, so lets stop the waiting and get on with it...

  • Flying Baby!
This is just so plain amazing it isn't even funny. It's so emotionally inspiring it's hard to write about. This guy he...he flew! Yes, and they caught it on video. Using a Birdman suit and to jet's on his legs he actually flew. It's so awesome and looks so dang amazing it isn't even funny. It just goes to show that self-sustained flying may not be too far into the future. I just can't wait. With more efficient jet engines and longer lasting fuel we may be able to fly for long periods of time. This so, so, so unbelievable. The fact that it looks so smooth when this guys flying makes it even more awespiring...You are doing your self an EXTREME disfavour if you do not check this out!

  • Apple News
Well Apple had their MacWorld Keynote, bringing with it, new updates to their software and the Intel Macs! If your not a Mac geek yourself, I suggest reading this article that should hopefully help you understand what a Steve Jobs Keynote is for those of us who are. For those of you that don't remember/ don't know about Apple's transition from IBM chips to Intel ones you can easily find it on the web. Done reading? Good, now lets get on with things. They released the new Intel iMac (which they unfortuanatly had just recently updated) that along with the update to the Powerbook line (now dubbed the MacBook Pro) are said to be blazing fast. The MacBook Pro, just like the iMac has an iSight Webcam right on the top. This is an excellant idea that I believe should be incorporated more often into other laptops aswell. Here's a video of the MacBook Pro in action. The iLife apps got an overhaul and added to their mix is iWeb a website design tool. For those of you that don't remember the Daring Fireball article on the graphic design here it is. From the same site comes a just as funny follow up article. Also, a good article on Steve Jobs views.

  • Vertical Farming
This is a totally sweet indepth essay on what they call Vertical Farming. Instead of horizontal farming like what we do now they believe we should use department buildings. With numerous and very convincing ideas and reasons as to why this would be a good idea, it's definately a compelling read. Make sure you check it out. Or if you don't feel the need to read something that takes alot of brain/will power, here is a condensed article on the idea.

  • Windows, Windows, Windows
With Windows Vista (the latest and upcoming version of Windows) coming right around the corner (or so we're hoping) there is certainly a good amount of buzz following it. Bill Gates (or Billy as you may like to call him) did a speech at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) at the beginning of the month detailing what Microsoft plans to include in this upcoming release. Of course as you may already know Vista is taking alot of cues from Mac OS X. So somebody just had to take an audio version of Bill's speech and put show the demo but instead of showing the beta of Vista, Mac OS X instead. If you don't understand what I'm talking about check out these couple of videos here and here. Also, for those of you running XP check out this site here for some hints and tips for stuff from cheating at integrated games to enabling secret utilities, it's pretty neat. Also, if you haven't read it already, it's the If Windows Were A Car article, a very entertaining read.

  • Robotic Car
The stuff coming out of MIT these days is just plain amazing. Here we have the Robotic Car of the future. With tons of new and much needed features for the future. Such features include being stackable, being small to fit into those hard to reach parking spaces and fuel efficient. These will all be the things that we will need for the future of cars. Be sure to check this out.

  • AllPeers
For those of you who use Firefox (that should be all of you, at least don't use IE, for multiple reasons) this new extension that will hopefully soon come out is sure to be an amazing addition. The company calls it Firefox's killer app, and I can't find any substantial reason to comment otherwise. It's a file sharing system, just like a network, it will allow for quick media sharing between family members and friends and even let you encrypt access to it. Good read about it here, and some screenshots here. Make sure to check this out and hopefully get it once it comes out. It seems to be a much needed addition to FireFox.

  • Making Money
Now here is a brilliant idea from a UK student. Create a website, make lots of money, old formula no? But here is a brand new take on it. Create a site full of ads. Ok, that's still old, but what about not getting the advertisers to pay for clicks, but instead for realestate, or I guess it would be site-estate. Unfortuanatly some hackers decided to attack it, but everythings back up and good now. Make sure you take a look.

  • Web Services
Web Services, you've gotta love 'em. Last post I talked about the online app Writely and the web design tool Protopage, today we've got a few more. First off, for that comic artist at heart is the Strip Generator, pre-loaded with some neat characters, objects and backrounds, you can create a great comic strip with little to no effort. Also we have the YouTube, a free site where you can upload video to put up on your site. This is great because it takes the bandwidth needs off of you and it's loadable by any computer, there is no need for Quicktime, Real, or Windows Media Player plug-ins. Make sure to check out both of these services.

  • Beautiful Sound
And you thought your Dolby 5/6/7 .1 surround sound was amazing. Wait until you hear this. This is an audio clip featuring some very cool audio. Best listened to when wearing headphones but it is still very cool. It's called 3D Sound. When listening to is I can almost feel the sound right next to my ears, as if just inches away. You MUST give this a listen...Make sure you have Quicktime installed.

  • Star Wars Anybody?
You can probably remember the hyperspace drives that are used in the mass majority of Sci-Fi movies. What you probably didn't know is that it's coming. This article, called "Welcome to the Mars Express: Only A Three Hour trip" talks about the hyperspace drives that are to come. This will be really cool as it will alow quicker trips to space and possibly even exploration outside of our galaxy. This, is something revoloutionary.

  • The Transfer Wizard
Pando. This app, which is currently in beta, allows for quick and speedy transfers from friends. It's a nice little app that I can find many common uses for. Although it takes a week for them to get to you and get yourself signed up it is very helpful in it's use. Although I can't judge it too much as I don't know enough people online to really put it through it's paces it seems like this can be a very useful trend. We as a consumer need quicker and easier access to media in all of it's forms.

  • 37Signals
This company with a very cool name offers a nice bunch of handy and simplistic tools to manage your own independent and business projects. Some of these tools are so simplistic (and free) that it makes you want to have a project of your own just to use them. Check them out!

  • Green Eggs and Ham, Now Green Ham and Eggs?
That's right, green, glowing pigs. These genetically mutated pigs have a green tinged body and they glow in the dark. Definately read the article for a very entertaining and cool read. Kinda makes you wonder what they'll do with genetics next. All kinds of things most likely, well, read on...

  • The Stuff That Doesn't Fit
Here is the area where I post all of those neat things that can't really fit or aren't big enough for an area of their own. So here we go...
Joss Wheden from Firefly and Serenity, humorously talks about the future of television.
Those who want a Firefly Season 2, I suggest you go here.
When someone hacks story books, Elmo says "Who Want's To Die?"
Top 25 Webcams of the year 2005
provides some interesting scenery.
Overclock until vaporization. You know your going too far when you totally blow up your Pentium 4 chip.
Another Steve-Skit. This time it comes from Attack of the Show on G4TechTV. It's actually pretty funny. Check it.
And finally for all of you World of Warcraft fans a humorous and mildly odd (did I say mildly) the World of Warcraft Gay Bar Video.

Ah...And that's it for this post, another long month has passed. I'll post again next month, see yah then!

You do know I did all of that stuff don't you?

Also, the guy on the radio told me that sandwiches evolved, pass it on.

On a serious note, that flying guy was awesome. :)
